Rhian
SC / PC 4 or 5
Dependent reader. Reading is (just) within the expected range.
This is Rhian. She has an even profile (SC and PC stanines are aligned). She used to love reading at primary school, but now only reads in school when instructed to do so. Although she is currently reading where she should be for her age, she is at risk of being ‘invisible yet struggling’ as she cannot always keep up with what she needs to read in lessons. Without regular practice she could fall behind with her reading. Rhian is a dependent reader as she depends on support to make full sense of a text. She is often limited in her response to language and its meaning.
